Every child at Nakata Dojo starts here. Four weeks to learn how the dojo works, at their own pace, before they ever step into a full speed class.
$89 · Uniform included · No contracts, ever
Next cycle starts Monday, June 29 · 6 of 6 spots left
Reserve a SpotFoundations exists so that no child walks into a real class lost. Four weeks to learn our etiquette, our customs, how the class is structured, and how the drills are done, at your child's own pace. There is no rushing and there is no feeling stupid.
When the four weeks end, your child joins the 5:30 beginner class already knowing how the room works and what is expected of them. That class moves at full speed, and the students in it have earned that pace. Foundations protects both: the new student walking in, and the ones already doing the work.
One thing worth saying plainly: karate at Nakata Dojo is not an after school activity. It is real education, and it is hard to learn. That is exactly why it works. We keep each cycle to six families on purpose, and we are careful about who we enroll. If you are the kind of parent who reads a page like this all the way through, you are probably our kind of parent.
The next cycle starts Monday, June 29 and runs four weeks. Classes meet Monday through Thursday at 4:50 pm, thirty minutes each, plus a Saturday class at 11:00 am. Your child can attend any of them; you book the days that work for your family.
$89 covers all four weeks and their uniform. There is nothing to cancel afterward, because there is no contract and there never will be.
Enroll by Monday, June 22 and the uniform is ready and waiting on day one.
Foundations is for ages 4 to 12. Ages 13 and up, contact us and we will place your child where they will actually grow. Sometimes that is the adult class.
A lot of schools hand you one free class and call it a trial. I do not, and here is why. One class is not enough to know anything. Your child is nervous, everything is new, and it is over before it begins. A month is different. It is long enough for the newness to wear off, for your child to actually learn a few things, and for you to see who we really are.
That is also why I do not do contracts. A contract is a school telling you it does not trust its own work to keep you. I would rather give you the full experience and let you decide with your eyes open.
Pay the $89 and your child's spot is held.
A receipt and one link land in your inbox right away.
About five minutes. This is where we collect uniform sizing.
Ready for your child, and theirs to keep.
Right in your parent portal, pick the days that work.
Check in at the dojo and your child's attendance is recorded.
We are open Monday through Thursday, and Saturday morning. You do not need to bring your child every day, and most families do not. Pick at least two days a week. Three is the sweet spot. That is enough for real progress without taking over your week.
If Foundations is not the right fit for your family, tell us and we will refund you in full. No questions, no forms. We do not keep money we have not earned. It is the same reason we will never ask you to sign a contract.
Come watch a class before you decide. We are glad to have visitors, and we only ask that you watch quietly. The beginner class runs Monday through Thursday at 5:30 pm. That is the class your child is working toward, and watching it is the smartest thing a careful parent can do.
No one will approach you with a pitch. During class, my attention belongs to the students on the mat. That is exactly what you are coming to see. After every class there is a ten minute break before the next group begins, and I will be at the front desk. If you have questions, that is the time and the place to ask them. If you would rather watch and leave without talking to anyone, that is fine too.
I made Foundations $89 on purpose. Trying a serious school should be easy, not a financial decision you lose sleep over. Our curriculum is high quality and it stands next to any school around here. The best way to know that is not to take my word for it. It is to give your child four weeks on the mat.
I will be just as straight with you about what comes next. After Foundations, training is $150 plus tax every four weeks. That is the whole price. No contract, no sign-up fee, nothing else added on. It gives your child full access to the beginner schedule, a class we keep to twelve trained students so every child is actually seen.
Those four weeks are mine to earn. I would rather spend them showing you it is worth it than hand you a contract and stop trying. If we do our job, you will want to stay. If we do not, you are free to go, and that is exactly how it should be.

$89 per child, all four weeks and the uniform included. That is all we need right now. Uniform sizing and the rest happen in your waiver after enrollment. Payment is secure through Stripe.
Rather wait for a later start date? Join the list and we will email you when the next cycle opens.
Adults train here too. I love my adult students, and I will be honest, I never expected to. The adult class is small, and the people in it are committed. That is not an accident and we are not in a hurry to change it. You will get more direct instruction in a month here than most large schools give in a year.
The adult version of Foundations is the same deal: $89, four weeks, uniform included, no contracts. There is no waiting for a start date. Classes meet Monday through Thursday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am. Once your waiver is in, book your first class and start the week that works for you.
The waiver after enrollment collects uniform sizing and the rest. Payment is secure through Stripe.
Some kids join everything on day one. Some watch from the edge for two classes before they are ready. Both are normal. All I expect from kids is to do their best; over time things get easier and they feel proud of their effort. And if after the first class you feel this is not the right place for your family, the guarantee is right there. No questions.
It depends on the four year old, and I will be honest with you about yours. The first week tells us everything. That is part of what Foundations is for: finding out at their pace instead of dropping them into a full class to sink.
Comfortable clothes they can move in, and bring a water bottle. Their uniform will be ready, and they will take it home after their first class.
You are welcome to stay and watch every class. Many of our parents do.
